A.P, C.I.D, Cyber Crimes Alert on Frauds WhatsApp Phishing Campaign issued by Ministry of Home Affairs.

 

Threat Summary:

A new WhatsApp phishing campaign to defraud citizens has been noted. It is being carried out by sending links through WhatsApp, offering part-time job to users. The message states “use mobile phone to operate at home and earn XXX INR – XXX INR per day. New users can join by clicking on the link shared”.

 

Modus Operandi:

Some fraudsters are running malicious phishing campaign through WhatsApp and on clicking the link shared, redirect victims to some fraud mobile numbers for conversation. This is likely a case of SMS phishing carried out by cybercriminals who are leveraging people’s interest in work from home (WFH) opportunities during COVID period.

 

 

Suggestions:

 

  1. Avoid clicking unfamiliar links received on any instant messaging platforms. These are generally malicious links.
  2. Visit only company or Organizations authorized websites for searching any job offers.
