Child & Women Protection Cell, CID was created to monitor the progress of invesitgation and prosecution of cases relating to Crime Against Women. WPC shall install confidence in women and establish as an effective agency for petitioners seeking to redressal of their grievances. In view of the changing crime scenario, awareness of Women rights, active role of NGOs and Women Organisations and advent of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005, the scope of Women Protection Cell has widened, through G.O.Ms.No.1 of Women Development, Child Welfare and Disabled Welfare Deparatment, dated: 03-10-2003 & G.O.Ms.No.475/C-14/WPC/2006, dated: 22-12-2006.
a) Women Protection Cell
WPC will take up investigation of only speciliazed cases entrusted by the Government, Court, DGP and Addl.DGP, CID. WPC will direct the petitioner approaching from other Units with an endorsement to the concerned Unit Officer with a copy to the CsP/Range DIsG as the case may be for taking appropriate action. WPC will collect, collate, analyse and disseminate the information on Crime Against Women.
WPC will liaise with Director Woemn & Child Welfare Department, Juvenile Justice Department, NGOs working in the field of Women and Child Development and Director, AP AIDS control organisation.
b) Child Protection Cell
Child abuse is a heinous offence. Child abuse can be physical, sexual, emotional, neglect or not providing for a child's needs, is also a form of abuse. Most abused children often suffer greater emotional damage than physical damage. An abused child amy become depressed, think of suicide or become violent. An older child may use drugs or alcohol, try to run away or abuse others, ultimately resorting to crime.
Child Protection Cell will monitor investigation of cases of child abuse, monitor the functioning of SJPUs and CWOs, act as the Nodal agency for missing persons/children, liaise with NCRB, CBI, NCPCR, Women and Child Welfare Department of the State Govt., JJBs and other judicial forums in matters pertaining to crimes aginst children and for the welfare of Juveniles.
c) Anti-Human Trafficking Cell
The functions and duties of Anti-Human Trafficking Cell are to monitor the cases of Human Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation and to follow up for successful prosecution of the cases and to assist in providing protection and rehabilitation to the rescued victims. This wing shall attend to all the three aspects of trafficking viz., prevention, protection and prosecution.
AHT cell will be field level functional unit to address to the menace of human trafficking in a holistic manner and to target the gangs and operatives involved from root level to the top.
